100 word Challenge for Grown ups – Week#61
October 11, 2012
The Reading festival was to become the highlight of the pop calendar. Rod Stewart then known as the Faces was the playing. I would move hell and high water to see them play. Unfortunately while I was at college I had a Saturday job; well paid but no time to spend it. It was fun being a teenager; but the art of persuasion was not yet honed. My mum also needed convincing that Reading was not the ‘den of iniquity’ she had heard about.
‘I woke up with another headache’ that’s what it told my boss.
‘This is becoming a habit’ he said knowingly

We have lived in Reading for 30 years and we have never had good weather for the festival but till the punters come in their droves always with wellies..
The headache as a sicky is quite a relief after some of the heavies this week.
Love the “it was fun, but…”. Sums it up nicely.
Thanks for the feedback … Yes my boss was long suffering he probably ‘had been there done that … got the t shirt! Nonetheless we have to be careful with yet another headache!!
Headache be dammed, there’s music to enjoy!
Where I used to work, the Personnel people were very suspicious of employees who “got sick” a lot on Fridays, and even more suspicious of the ones who were often “sick” on Mondays!
Sometimes I feel like taking a Wednesday off just to break the week up! But I don’t like Mondays!! Thanks for dropping by with a little chat 🙂
I wound up doing some unintentional eavesdropping while fixing Personnel’s computers – they tended to assume Monday sick days were needed to nurse hangovers, at least if the caller made a habit of being sick on Monday.
